About Us

The Delvinian String Quartet is a Sydney-based ensemble comprising Darren Li (violin I), Selwood Hardaker (violin II), Andrew Liang (viola), and Cadence Ing (cello). Formed at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2023, the quartet has worked closely with tutors Ole Bøhn, Julian Smiles and Timothy Kantor. Under their tutelage, they have staged performances at home and abroad, winning Third Prize at the CONVIMUS International Chamber Music Competition in Porto, Portugal.

The quartet has participated in major international programs such as the 2025 and 2026 FEMUSC International Music Festival in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil. There, they worked closely with the award-winning Arianna String Quartet, and as a result received full scholarships to the 2025 and 2026 Arianna Chamber Music Festivals in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. In addition, they have benefited from masterclasses with Eric Wong of the Blair String Quartet and Kirsten Docter, violist of the Cavani Quartet and Associate Professor at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

Closer to home, the quartet has performed at the Arts Unit’s Festival of Instrumental Music, leading an innovative self-developed interactive quartet workshop-masterclass for hundreds of primary school children. They regularly appear in public chamber music concerts at the Sydney Conservatorium, and have organised their own concerts with their primarily free pricing reflecting the Delvinian's strong focus on community outreach.

A versatile ensemble that has extended beyond the classical music sphere, the Delvinian Quartet recently collaborated with Sydney R&B band Honeydrip to record tracks for their album Next To You. In November 2025, the Delvininan Quartet was announced as recipient of the prestigious Geralt Westheimer’s Scholarship, which will help support and sustain their international travels and ambitions for 2026.
